Darkness

Darkness in dreams represents the unknown, the unconscious mind, and fear of what you cannot see. Complete darkness suggests being 'in the dark' about something important. Fear of the dark reflects fear of the unconscious and its contents. However, darkness can also be a womb-like, protective state — a necessary emptiness before new creation. The response to darkness (fear vs. acceptance) is diagnostically important.

Old Person

Elderly people in dreams typically represent wisdom, life experience, and guidance from the deeper self. A wise old man or woman is a central Jungian archetype — the inner sage who carries accumulated wisdom. Dreaming of yourself as old may reflect concerns about aging or a connection with your future self. An unknown elderly figure often represents the archetype of the Wise Elder offering guidance.
