Island

Islands represent isolation, self-sufficiency, and refuge from the overwhelming 'ocean' of emotions or life demands. A tropical island paradise suggests a desire for escape and rest. A deserted island reflects loneliness and self-reliance. An island you can't leave represents feeling trapped in isolation. Islands also represent the conscious self surrounded by the vast unconscious (the sea).

Ladder

Ladders represent step-by-step progress, ambition, and the effort required to reach higher levels. Climbing a ladder suggests steady advancement toward a goal. A broken rung indicates a setback.
