Island

Islands represent isolation, self-sufficiency, and refuge from the overwhelming 'ocean' of emotions or life demands. A tropical island paradise suggests a desire for escape and rest. A deserted island reflects loneliness and self-reliance. An island you can't leave represents feeling trapped in isolation. Islands also represent the conscious self surrounded by the vast unconscious (the sea).

Old Person

Elderly people in dreams typically represent wisdom, life experience, and guidance from the deeper self. A wise old man or woman is a central Jungian archetype — the inner sage who carries accumulated wisdom.
