Island

Islands represent isolation, self-sufficiency, and refuge from the overwhelming 'ocean' of emotions or life demands. A tropical island paradise suggests a desire for escape and rest. A deserted island reflects loneliness and self-reliance. An island you can't leave represents feeling trapped in isolation. Islands also represent the conscious self surrounded by the vast unconscious (the sea).

Rat

Rats in dreams carry complex symbolism. On one hand, they represent incredible survival skills, adaptability, and resourcefulness. On the other hand, they can symbolize betrayal, disease, and things that gnaw away at you. In Chinese culture, the rat is the first zodiac animal and represents cleverness and wealth.
